Cedric Bailey- Bio

Born to John and Louise Bailey in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Second oldest child of 8 children. Graduate of Ardmore High Class of 1980 and East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma 1985. Major: Mass Communication in Radio/TV and minor in Military Science. Commissioned as a 2LT in the United States Army as a Signal Corp Officer at Fort Gordon, GA 1985. Letter in 4 sports in high school, football, basketball, baseball and track. Played college football at East Central University in 1980, due to a knee injury that force Cedric to stop playing college football. A member of the ECU track team that won the Oklahoma Intercollegiate Conference in 1983.

Bailey was one of the 1st African American's that worked for KTLS 93.3 FM as a radio announcer and a sport reporter for KTEN Channel 10. During his college year he worked at the college bookstore as was the campus mailman for 3 years and head cook for Western Sizzling Steakhouse for 2 years.

In the Summer of 1987 Bailey along with his brother John and best friend Daymond moved to Oak Cliff, Texas. His 1st job was assistant manager for Church's Chicken; he later worked for Universal Insurance as an agent. in 1989 he became a counselor for UTA Educational Opportunity Center and assisted several high school pursue a college education. It was during the same year that Cedric applied for a position as a radio announcer for KHVN. Mr. Joe Bagby and the last Minnie Francis gave Mr. Bailey the opportunity to be a gospel DJ. Later he was hired by KDLZ 107.5 as a weekend announcer and later became the promotions director for KHVN. Cedric planned fan drives in the community, Backyard BBQ and several events in the Metroplex. He later returns home in 1990 to start "Praise in the Park". This was a gospel event that featured several upcoming gospel soloists and choir's to showcase their talent in the name of the Lord. A scholarship was created in 1998 in memory of his mother Louise Bailey to help young people attend college.

In 1995, Cedric received a phone call from Lador Frank a former co-worker a position with ABC Radio Networks. He was hired to host a gospel show on "Solid Gold Soul" then became the afternoon host for "Rejoice Musical Soul Food'. This is a gospel syndicated radio show that airs in 53 markets across the USA. Cedric has broadcasted from Mega fest with Bishop T. D. Jakes, The Stellar Awards in Nashville Tenn. at the Grand Ole Opryhouse and many other events such as concert with gospel artist such as Vickie Winans, Dorinda Clark Cole, Rance Allen and others.

Finally, In October 2007 Cedric became the Sports Editor for the LaVida News. He covers the Dallas Mavericks, The Dallas Cowboys and College Basketball. Recently in August 2013 he was recognizes by the Morning Star Prayer as a Man of Valor for his dedication to the community. Bailey has also received the 2012 Reach Media living legend award at the Stellar Award in Nashville TN. The Epitomes 2011 Gospel Media Mogul Award by Epitome Magazine. The state of Texas by the Texas Gospel Announcer's Guild by Larry Davies. Bailey has received several awards from the community and is a TRIO Achiever of the State of Oklahoma.

Cedric Bailey is a members of the Golden Gate Church of God in Christ and involved in the youth ministry and Cedric is the District Supt of the Love District Sunday School Dept.
